Her Sudden Groom by Rose Gordon

This was a delight to read. Rose Gordon simply paints a wonderful picture of all the characters in this book. While the story was a little slow (in my opinion) in the beginning, it quickly picked up and had me flipping page after page.
Alex Banks is obsessed with anything to do with science but soon his father ( Edward ) tells him of a betrothal agreement he made years ago that will force him to marry Lady Olivia, the worst woman in England. Thankfully, his childhood friend Marcus ( he’s also Lady Olivia’s brother ), finds a loophole in the agreement and tells him he must find a bride within a month to make it null and void. Did I mention within a month he turns 30? Yep, he must marry before his 30th birthday.
Lady Olivia is an absolute terror. Really. She’s spoiled beyond belief, hateful and has no respect for anyone. She soon finds out she’s betrothed to Alex Banks. While reading throughout this book, I wondered if she truly loved anyone but herself. I came to the conclusion that while she probably loves her brother Marcus, he would be the only person. She seriously thinks the world evolves around her. She left a bad taste in my mouth whenever her character popped up in the story.
Caroline is one of the best heroines ever. She’s forgiving, loving, intelligent, and grateful. I really enjoyed reading about her. She puts up with her cousin’s ( Lady Olivia ) hateful behavior and finds herself falling for Olivia’s betrothed. Not on purpose, mind you. It just happens. Actually Marcus makes it happen.
Watching Alex and Caroline’s relationship develop is delightful. Alex is clueless about women and Caroline is innocent and sweet. I found myself cheering for them the whole way. They were perfect for each other.
I even got teary eyed when Edward ( Alex father ) passes away. I’m telling you, Rose Gordon makes these characters come to life and you’ll be drawn into the story.
Not only is the cover beautiful, so is Alex and Caroline’s story.
